- About Us
The W. Dames Group of Companies consist of two leading Namibian logistics brands, Trans Desert Logistics (established in 2010) and Imberbe Logistics (established in 2013), who specialises in Long-Distances Cross Border Transport and Consolidated Slow-Road Freight Transport, respectively. Both Trans Desert Logistics and Imberbe Logistics are household names in the logistics industry.
Willie Dames, the sole owner of Trans Desert Logistics and Imberbe Logistics, has more than 25 years’ experience in transport industry. He was the founder and MD of WP Transport in 1994 which had grown its fleet to 52 vehicles when it was partially sold to Imperial Logistics in 2006. During this time, Namibian Beverages was one of the mayor contractual customers together with various other blue-chip companies requiring cross border transportation between Namibia, South Africa, Botswana, Angola and other SADC countries.
Subsequently, Willie sold his remaining shares in WP Transport to Imperial Logistics. Following the sale of WP Transport, Mr. Dames established Trans Desert Logistics in 2010 with the main focus of providing a service to the meat industry in Namibia, transporting lamb carcasses to South Africa. The well-established export component to SA provided the opportunity to offer competitive rates to customers exporting products to Namibia. Since then Trans Desert Logistics has expanded its service industry and base of operations to offer all prospective clients a wide range of transport solutions.
Imberbe Logistics was founded by Bennie Nienaber (former MD of Etosha Transport Imperial with 21years of service) in April 2013. More recently Willie Dames (former MD of WP Transport and MD of Trans Desert Logistics) added his 25 years of expertise to Imberbe Logistics as majority shareholder and logistical partner. With an experienced management team that joined Imberbe Logistics, they were able to service a variety of valued customers, consolidating loads from Johannesburg to Windhoek and other areas in Namibia.
In November 2016, Mr. Dames acquired the remainder shareholding in Imberbe Logistics, whereby he grew the business substantively in opening, together with Johannesburg depot, two new depots in Cape Town and Durban. Today, both Trans Desert Logistics and Imberbe Logistics has grown exponentially in the transportation industry, combining synergies and increasing its customer base throughout Namibia and South Africa.
